A Propane Fire Pit is a Must Have Camping Accessory

Everyone loves a camp fire especially when camping in the winter months. Finding wood or hauling fire wood to the camp site can be a pain however. What can you do if you get to a busy camp site and all the wood has already been collected by your fellow campers? You can solve this problem by always making sure you pack a portable propane fire pit. You might think that this is a poor compromise but if you need heat and warmth they are actually a very good solution.

Propane fire pits come with many advantages over the traditional camp fire. You will no longer have to rely on finding a source of fire wood as propane fire pits obviously don't require any. They are efficient and you will get many hours of warmth out of a single tank of gas.

Wood fires also produce sparks so propane fire pits are safer in that regard as they don't produce any. Circling the camp fire to get away from the smoke will also not be required with a fire pit. Of course without the smoke you also miss out on the ashes so you won't have any clean up to do at the end of the night. Less work means more fun which is always a good thing. Clean, simple and convenient. Without all the smoke propane fire pits are also excellent for using in the back yard. Neighbors won't have to complain about the smoke that the average fire produces.

There are some things to be aware of when purchasing a portable propane fire pit. Some models don't come with hoses or fittings. If you are buying online make sure you know what's in the box. There are a couple of different size fittings available so make sure you get the right ones if buying them separately. Get a hose that will be long enough to situate the tank a little way away from the heat and flames. Your tank is also less likely to get knocked over.

All fire pits are not equal so check the heat output rating as well. You will be using it to provide warmth so you want to make sure you are getting enough heat for everyone. A fire pit that can produce heat in the range of 60,000 BTUs should be adequate. Also make sure you get the most efficient model you can afford. Weight for weight propane is a more economical fuel source than fire wood but you still want to make sure you get the most out of it.
